Mitsubishi Electric’s Environmental Sustainability Vision 2050

12.04.20233 minutos de lectura

What is the purpose of Environmental Sustainability Vision 2050?

  • to realize a low carbon-level, recycling-based society that functions in harmony with nature
  • allow Mitsubishi Electric to operate as a responsible, eco-minded corporate company
  • to have a north star guiding us towards the implementation of our goals

We believe it is necessary to reimagine the way we think of future societies. That is why we have diagnosed various social changes and issues expected in the future.

What are they? Here are some examples of the possible problems:

  • Increasing pollution in emerging countries.
  • Environmental deterioration in urban areas.
  • Intensification of natural disasters leading to increasing economic loss worldwide.
  • Dissemination of a circular economy.
  • Damage to the environment due to tourism.
  • Impact of biodiversity destruction on primary industries.

These are all important points to take into consideration when planning future environmental activities for any socially responsible global company. They were the basis for the overall structure of Mitsubishi Electric’s Environmental Sustainability Vision 2050.

How are we planning to achieve it?

Mitsubishi Electric Group already has a solid plan which includes three Environmental Action Guidelines:

  1. Apply diverse technologies in wide-ranging business areas to solve environmental issues (this will cover climate change measures, resource circulation and activities to preserve biodiversity).
  2. Develop business innovations for future generations (among other things, by means of long and mid-term Environmental Plans formulated every three years, supporting and creating innovative technologies and solutions and nurturing Human Resources).
  3. Publicize and share new values and lifestyles by diagnosing and understanding our customers’ needs and expectations in terms of the environment, proposing new lifestyles contributing to the environment as well as holding continuous discussions with local residents and municipalities, and contribute to the creation of better local environments.

Key initiatives

These are practical examples of the activities we plan in order to put the three Environmental Action Guidelines in practice.

Key initiatives:

  • climate change measures
  • resource circulation
  • live in harmony with nature
  • understanding needs
  • co-create and disseminate new values
