MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC Changes for the Better

Smarter safety architecture for modern automation

Historically, creating a certified safety system has meant compromising on cost, flexibility, and engineering time. Complex, redundant wiring, separate safety relays for every function, and inflexible hardware add significant cost and maintenance burdens.
Our philosophy is different. We provide the essential building blocks – controllers, networks, and I/O – to create a truly integrated and decentralized safety architecture. This approach streamlines design, slashes installation costs, and provides unparalleled diagnostic clarity.

Modular Slice I/O for flexible safety designs

The NZ2FT Slice I/O Series delivers a modular, compact, and highly flexible remote I/O solution for industrial automation. Now featuring functional safety digital I/O modules compliant with international standards, it offers enhanced reliability and versatility. Designed for a wide range of applications, NZ2FT integrates seamlessly with MELSEC PLCs and supports multiple network protocols. With advanced diagnostics and hot-swap capability, it's ideal for both small and large-scale systems.

High-speed local safety signal processing

The local safety I/O modules can be connected directly to the iQ‑R Series Safety PLC (RnSFCPU). These modules integrate seamlessly into the iQ‑R platform and enable decentralized acquisition of safety signals with high reliability and fast response times. The safety Output module (RY48PT20STS) supports additionally a maximum load of 2A per point, totalling 16A, ensuring cost savings and optimising cabinet space (no dedicated safety relais required)

Decentralized Safety I/O for efficient machine layouts

Decentralized I/O modules collect safety signals in the field, drastically reducing wiring costs and simplifying machine design.

  • Network compatibility: modules are available for CC-Link IE Field (e.g., NZ2GNS12A2-16DTE) and CC-Link IE TSN (e.g., NZ2GNSS2-8D, 8TE, 16DTE), which can run both safety and standard control on the same network. Our high-speed CC-Link IE TSN network handles safety, general control, and motion traffic on a single Ethernet cable, reducing wiring costs.
  • Cabinet-free installation: Mitsubishi Electric’s I/O modules are available in both IP20 (for control cabinets) and IP67 (water/dustproof) versions. The IP67 block-type modules can be mounted directly on the machine, eliminating the need for a local control panel and saving significant hardware cost and space.
  • Certified performance: these remote devices comply with international safety standards, including EN ISO 13849-1 Cat.4, PL e and IEC 61508 SIL3.
