MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC Changes for the Better

Ball screws

Using Maisart AI, the system estimates future vibration levels and friction torque, identifying potential failures before they occur. If these values exceed a pre-set warning limit, an alert is generated, allowing maintenance teams to respond proactively.

Belts

By monitoring friction torque and belt tension, the system detects any drops in performance, such as slackening belts that could lead to operational issues. When tension decreases beyond a safe threshold, an automatic alert signals the need for intervention.

Gears

The system tracks gear backlash and friction degradation, providing insights into wear progression. If frictional deterioration reaches a critical point, an alert is triggered, enabling timely maintenance and preventing costly breakdowns.

Use advanced control systems

To ensure the longevity and reliability of mechanical components, critical parameters such as kinetic friction, vibration levels, belt tension, and backlash values must be continuously monitored. By integrating tools such as the servo amplifier, motion module and CC-Link IE TSN, manufacturers can achieve real-time supervision and predictive maintenance.

Servo Amplifiers - MR-J5-G series

The servo amplifier captures real-time data on friction and vibration, allowing the system to detect abnormal increases that indicate wear or potential failure. By continuously adjusting motor performance, it helps maintain stable operation and prevents excessive strain on components.

Through CC-Link IE TSN, high-speed communication enables precise monitoring of belt tension. Any drop in tension, which could lead to slippage or inefficient power transmission, is quickly detected, triggering alerts for timely maintenance.

Motion module

The motion module evaluates and controls backlash in gears, ensuring smooth and precise motion. By tracking wear progression, it provides early warnings when backlash exceeds the allowable threshold, preventing mechanical instability and performance issues.

By combining these tools and technologies, manufacturers can maintain optimal machine performance, minimise downtime, and extend the lifespan of critical components – all while reducing maintenance costs and improving overall efficiency. With real-time monitoring and automated failure predictions, operations become more reliable, efficient, and cost-effective.
